Dear friends & colleagues
A very dear friend to many of us who are receiving this message : Omar Moez Fahmy who is 32 years old has been suffering through the last year from
Leukemia or Blood cancer. He is now undertaking the 2nd round of
chemotherapy in Hammersmith Hospital in London where he has been since
June 2004. he has so far responded well to the Chemotherapy he undertook -
the challenge remains now to find a donor of Bone marrow with a degree of
compatibility greater than the one encountered within his direct family
(which is almost 50%) in order to increase his chances of a successful
bone marrow transplant operation and secure a healthy long & successful
life INSHAALLAH to Omar
in this respect everybody is invited to do an HLA Type of his blood in
order to increase Omar's chances to find a donor and therefore a
successful transplant - therefore an account with OMAR's name is opened in
ALFA LAB 106 Abbas el Akkad St -Nasr City Tel 2870800. the test's fees
are 300 LE and will be paid by each one of us who is interested to do the
test for Omar .
the test that people will do is only a simple and normal blood test (like
>any blood taking that each one did before). according to this test the lab
will be able to eliminate some of us due to incompatibility with Omar's
HLA Type and upgrade some of us to take further analysis aimed at reaching
the most compatible to Omar's -who in this case will be flown to where
Omar will undertake the Operation (London or Munich)
the transplant itself -in the case people wonder about it - is not taking
the bone marrow from any of us -but it is a simple machine taking blood 10cm
from one arm (and picking up the stem cells which is the mother cell) and giving it back in the other arm for Omar with no need for
anesthesia or operation theater etc and no what so ever side effects on
the donor's side
I urge each one of you to :
1. do the test
2. spread this message to as many people as possible on your mailing list
that can be interested to do the test
3. to act fast as the sooner the better for him
and above all to pray for him
